Many people like to bring their beloved pooch with them on holiday, and with more people set to be holidaying in the UK this year, you might be one of them. So if you’re planning a Lake District getaway with your best furry friend in tow, here are some dog-friendly pubs you can enjoy.

The Pheasant, Bassenthwaite

The Pheasant has stood the test of time for more than two centuries. It started life as a staging post and coaching inn, and it now offers a unique place to enjoy local hospitality in a beautiful setting. You can enjoy the spectacular views on their outdoor terrace and try one of their many pulled and cask ales, bitters, lagers and malts. For your pup, they have pet-friendly rooms and will be offered complimentary treats and fresh water.

The Dog & Gun, Keswick

Found in the heart of Keswick, the Dog & Gun has a very welcoming atmosphere towards pooches. Enjoy a glass of G&T and tuck into a hearty pub classic or one of their pizzas. Sit back in the homely, rustic atmosphere and enjoy the roaring fireplace with your dog by your side. Treats can be bought from behind the bar, and they supply water bowls if needed. This pub is also home to the Woof and Bang, brewed exclusively for them by Keswick Brewery.

The Coledale Inn, Braithwaite

The Coledale Inn started life as a woollen mill around 1824. It is perfectly situated above Braithwaite Village in the peaceful hills, making it an ideal spot for tourists and walkers alike. The paths to the mountains can be found right outside the gardens, making it perfect as a stop-off point for both the start and end of a hike. With Victorian furnishings and a beautiful beer garden, you can enjoy good food, and your dog can join you at the bar.

The Woolpack Inn, Eskdale

Great ales, great food and a lot of laughter, the Woolpack Inn welcomes everyone, including your dog. This historic Inn has won the CAMRA cider pub of the year multiple times, so you can enjoy a cold drink in their lovely beer garden or inside watching their giant sports screen.

The White Lion, Patterdale

Visitors have enjoyed the hospitality of the White Lion since the early 1800s, including Wordsworth. This historic country inn offers a friendly atmosphere, traditional beers and beautiful scenery. Enjoy an extensive menu of pub favourites, and your dog can also enjoy the treats available at the bar.
