1. RSBP Leighton Moss Nature Reserve

This is a must for anyone interested in birds, nature and wildlife. RSBP Leighton Moss is home to a wide variety of exciting and interesting animals, including birds, bats, bugs and even otters. You can explore nature trails, spend your time bird watching and there is an award-winning café on site offering excellent homemade meals. If you are lucky, you might even be able to spot their rarest resident, the red deer.

2. Capernwray Diving Centre

Looking to try something new and exciting? Capernwray Diving Centre offers courses and one-off sessions for divers of any experience level, so don’t worry if you have never tried it before! The water is crystal clear and offers a host of fish for discovering while diving. The centre also provides the facilities for snorkelers too, so there is plenty to keep you entertained if diving isn’t your thing. With an on-site café and bespoke diving shop, the Capernwray Diving Centre is an opportunity to try something new.

3. Cinderbarrow Miniature Railway

The Cinderbarrow miniature railway is a quaint hidden gem and is perfect for enjoying the rolling landscape of the Lake District. Offering the experience of riding on immaculate miniature trains around the scenic circuit, this is really a day out that you will not forget. The site is run by knowledgeable volunteers, so all of your questions will be met with enthusiasm, and they strive to provide a day out you will never forget.

 

 4. Warton Crag

Offering some of the most breath-taking views in the country, Warton Crag is perfect for walkers, hikers and anyone wanting to get away from the stresses of life. With multiple charming routes through the woods, or over the hills, you can tailor your experience to suit your needs. If you make it all the way to the top of the peak, then make sure you bring your camera, as people won’t believe how stunning the views are without proof!
